What is the UTF?
The United Tohyological Faculty, a learned society dedicated to Tohyology. We hope to form the core of a future Tohyology department when Megatokyo University opens. :)

What is Tohyology?
Tohyologists are persons who study Tohya Miho from the Megatokyo webcomic, as contrasted with Mihoists, who `worship' Tohya Miho. (In varying degrees of seriousness.)
Tohyology is not `about' Miho theories, it's about Miho herself. While we do our share of speculation, the prime objective of the Tohyologist is to understand Miho, not to divine her past. There are infinitely many possible stories for Tohya Miho's background, many of them plausible and interesting - it would be sheer good fortune to pick the correct one from among them.
Rather than engage in this futile (albeit amusing) pass-time, Tohyologists try to analyze Miho and her environment with a view to understanding her, and thus obtain a measure of foresight as to her future actions.

Is Tohyology the same thing as Miho Apologetics?
No. Miho Apologetics is the practice of defending Tohya Miho from theories considered by the apologist to be stupid, degrading, or perverse. Some of the main texts of field, the Miho Apologia and the Lesser Apologia, have significant Tohyological content as well - a possible source of confusion.

But isn't Tohyology against Supernatural Miho?
In a way - if Miho were supernatural, understanding her in human terms would be nigh impossible. It would be best to say that Tohyology postulates a `mundane' Miho; as apologists have given us natural causes and explanations for all Miho's observed behavior to date, there is no need for her to be a supernatural creature.

Okay, where do I sign up?
We're not a fan faction, you become a Tohyologist when you practice Tohyology.
The United Tohyological Faculty does accredit practitioners, however - this credential signifies your recognition as a peer by the Tohyological community. If you are a Tohyologist and would like to be accredited by the UTF, please submit some of your Tohyological work to us as a sample of your abilities. If we find it to be of satisfactory quality, we'll inform you that you are now a accredited Tohyologist and a Fellow of the UTF.
There are some other benifits to membership, the UTF provides it's fellows with reasonible web-hosting.
